Excellent plant for both flower borders and containers, flowers throughout the summer. Very dependable bloomer unless over fertilized. The flowers are rose, lilac, violet and blue, an inch across and borne in slender upright spikes. Plant in full sun in slightly fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Pinch back tip at planting time to encourage a well-branched plant. Can be grown as a perennial in zones 9-11 however, in most climates it is grown as an annual.
