Questions & Answers
Annuals Vs. Perennials
Question
What type of plant comes back every spring? Annual or Perennial?
Answer
A annual plant is a plant that germinates, flowers, and dies in one year completing their life cycle. Many annuals will set seed and come back the next year while others will need to be replanted in the spring.
A perennial plant is a plant that lives for more than two years. When the term perennials is used by gardeners it refers herbaceous plants and not trees and shrubs. Herbaceous plants are plants that die to the ground each winter and return from their root-stalk each spring.
A biennial plant is a flowering plant that takes two years to complete its biological lifecycle.
