Penny Mac like most hydrangea bears deep blue flowers in acid soil and pink flowers in alkaline soil. Hydrangea like moist but well drained locations with humus rich soil in sun or partial shade. In very hot climates hydrangea do best in the shade. Flowers are produced mid through late summer and make great specimen or group plants. Other macrophylla verities include All Summer Beauty, Blue Wave and Nikko Blue, all together there are over 30 macrophylla verities.
