I have had a cane tree for over 9 years. Within the last three months the prongs have been dying from the bottom. I have three shoots from the main stem and all are dying. However, from the base of the plant a new growth have appeared and seems to be doing great. What should I do to keep my plant healthy and keep it from dying?

Sorry but Im not sure what a cane tree is but it sounds like an overwatering issue. Is there drainage? Is the soil allowed to dry between waterings? Have any factors changed ie. pot, light, location watering? If you can attach a photo.
