Esperanza pruning

Julie Bertrand asks:

Question

I have an esperanza shrub turned into a tree, and I really need advice on how to best prune it, is February the correct time to do so?

Answer

To keep your Esperanza (Tecoma stans) shrub looking tidy you should lightly prune year round removing spent flowers and any dead that may occur. The more aggressive pruning cuts should be made in the spring after the last frost.

Happy Gardening!
