Heathland

Gmmathney asks:

Question

Is it correct to say that "Heathland" or "Heath" would include the acacia tree (seyal)? Thank you! Garry

Answer

"Heath" also known as Erica is a member of family Ericaceae which is the plant family that dominates the Heathland of Great Britain and Australia along with several other locations around the globe. Acacia is a much larger woody species and is a member of the family Fabaceae which is a thorny pod bearing tree and shrub which come from Australia and other temperate locations.
