Lava rock Ti Plant

milmer@ asks:

Question

Why are the leaves on my plant turning brown and falling off?

Answer

Hard to say exactly without knowing the situation but "Ti" or Cordyline require a good deal of water as long as it is well drained should not be an issue on a lava rock), full sun, and regular fertilizer about once a month with a regular house plant formula. The lower leaves of the plant will naturally brown and fall off as the plant grows. If leaves are browning from the top down it would lead me to believe that the plant needs more water. Plants grown on rocks will need a portion of their roots wet all times. Hope some of these general care tips help.
