Leggy Prayer Plant

Susan Riseman asks:

Question

Prayer Plant has been neglected for some time and needs some loving care. It has become very leggy and don't know how to prune to bring it back to a more compact plant?

Answer

Often when house plants like your prayer plant become leggy it's because they are not getting enough light. Prayer plants are known to do well in low light situations however they do better with moderate to bright indirect light. If leaf margins brown and curl they are getting too much direct light. Follow these easy care tips for prayer plants and you should soon see improvements. Keep soil moist without being soggy, avoid drying out between waterings and provide the plant with higher humidity by placing it near other houseplants, misting regularly or keeping it in rooms in the house with higher humidity like the bathroom.
