lucky bamboo is too tall

tresea@ asks:

Question

My lucky bamboo plant is too tall can i just cut it off at the bottom and new roots sprout?

Answer

You can cut off the bottom and new roots will grow, but it may be a long road to recovery. I did the exact same thing and one of the canes did not make it. If you can cut just below the highest root hair on the cane that way your plant will still be able to up take the nutrients and water it needs. If you need to cut higher than the roots as I did it may stunted the growth of the foliage. Whatever you decide to do make sure you use a good sharp pair of pruners or you will split the cane length wise which is a bad thing. Good luck!
