Palm trees

Kayla Beltran asks:

Question

My palm trees all 10 were subject to a freeze of 1 degree not all but some of the tops bent over what are the chances they will survive?

Answer

It really depends on the species of palm and how long the temperature was below freezing. Palm trees have a single growing point from the center of the canopy often called the spear leaf, if it was affected the palms could slowly decline. In most cases when palms experience freezing temperatures only the fronds are affected and may eventually yellow and die however the spear leaf remains unaffected. As long as the spear leaf is in good condition the trees should recover over time.
