Planting Corn

Gordon asks:

Question

How many seeds per hole?

Answer

Plant one seed per hole. The seeds should be sown ever 3 inches, 1/2 to 1 inch deep, after the seeds sprout reduce the number of seedlings to 10-12 inch intervals. By planting more than you need you avoid any gaps caused by seeds that do not germinate. Reducing the number of plants will insure a good yield, over crowded plots will produce smaller ears.
