What would cause 6 tomato plants only produce 1 or 2 tomatoes each?
Answer
Tomato plants are heavy feeders it could be that they simply needed more fertilizer. I like to use an organic formula that can be added to the soil surface and watered in (Every 1 or 2 weeks depending on the brand).
How was the quality of the tomatoes that did develop? Any cracks, dark spots or insect damage?
