True Aloe

Question

What is the variety of aloe shown in the picture and the botanical name? Picture of mature plant sent. Thank you.

Answer

I believe it's Aloe barbadensis or African Aloe. Compare the following description of African Aloe with your plants growing habits: Flower spikes emerge above foliage to 3ft tall with yellow or orange tubular flowers in arrow-shaped cluster, first bloom in spring and sporadically throughout the year (2-3 times). The leaves are green or grey-green with toothed margins. Often growing in clusters of several plants in the wild. Hope this helps. Do you have a photo of the flower?
