Weak looking plants

Susan asks:

Question

Several of my potted plants look weak- thin and without many leaves - is this do to not enough sun or not enough fertilizer?

Answer

I would recommend adding a liquid fertilizer the next few times you water. The majority of annuals you purchase from nurseries are given fertilizers to encourage growth and entice buyers. If fertilizers are not added once they have been potted, often daily watering will wash nutrients out of the pots. In addition to adding fertilizer don't be afraid to give the plants a good trimming this will encourage new growth. Without knowing the specific plant it is hard to speculate about the amount of sun they require, but if the pots are easily moved it could be worth a try. Hope this helps!
