Large, native American tree spectacular in spring, with creamy white flower panicles that are 8-14 long and loaded with fragrant pea-like flowers. Following flowers, 4 light brown seed pods form in autumn. As tree matures, bark turns gray, similar to a beech. Yellowwood named after yellow color of the heartwood. Beautiful specimen tree that grows especially well in high pH soils, it is also tolerant of acid soils. aka Cladrastis kentukea
