White fir is tolerant of most climates and city conditions. Grows best in deep, well-drained soil with regular water. With little to no pruning the white fir has a classic pyramidal shape which it will retain as the tree grows. The needles are 2" to 3" long, glaucous on both sides giving the tree a blue-gray cast. 4" to 5" brown cylindrical cones are borne on the upper third of the tree, green when immature.
