Throughout the summer this annual produces abundant velvety lilac-blue flowers about one inch across, the foliage is pale green, ovate and toothed. To promote good flowering feed every couple weeks with a fertilizer high in potassium and pinch back reaching stems to increase bushiness. Prefers moist soil, rich in organics water freely when dry. In warmer climates best grown in partial shade to full shade, morning sun and afternoon shade is best.
