Excellent for under trees or in moist shaded areas it does well in light to dense shade. Around 4–6 inches tall the slow to moderate growth rate. Brownish purple, bell-shaped flowers develop under the foliage in early spring. The rounded heart shaped green leaves make an attractive clean ground cover. Prefer humus-rich, moist but well drained soil in full to partial shade.
