Hibiscus rosa-sinensis

The Hawaiian Hibiscus is a large rounded evergreen shrub or small tree. Grown for it's hardiness and for it's large beautiful flowers of varying color depending on the cultivar, flower color ranges from red to orange to white and everything between. The leaves are a dark glossy green, flowers have 5-petals, 4-5 inches across with bright yellow anthers and red stamens (On red cultivars) bloom time long, generally spring-fall. Plant in a sunny location with humus-rich, well-darined soil. In places where not hardy grow in greenhouse or in pots that can be brought indoors throughout the winter. During the growing season water regularly, apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly, during the winter water sparingly do not fertilize.
