These odd stone looking plants are great indoor specimen but also can be grown outdoors in warmer desert regions. Each head comprises of a pair of leaves which are fused together on the lower half. The surface of the leaves act as little windows which let light in allowing for photosynthesis. During midsummer to midautumn each pair of leaves of will produce a single white or yellow flower. During winter and early spring the leaves dry up and shed away beneath a new pair of leaves emerge. Lithops require fast draining soil, water lightly spring through fall, do not water during winter dormancy. There are hundreds different Lithops each unique and interesting.
