Crapemyrtle are grown for their beautiful panicle of white, pink, red or purple flowers which are abundant July to fall on new growth. To encourage a longer heavy bloom prune off seed pods that develop after flowering. The trunk has smooth to exfoliating bark. Prefers moist well-drained soil in full-sun, thrives in climates with hot dry summers. They can be found in nurseries as multi-stem or single, sizes vary between varieties. Look for varieties more resistant to powdery mildew.
