Deeply lobed, small light green leaves in summer become yellow to bronze red in fall. Thousands of cultivars available varying from region to region. Prefers moist well drained soil conditions with good organic matter. In climates with high summer temperatures Japanese maples will require after noon shade to prevent leaf scorch.
