A hardy cool seasons vegetable of the cabbage family, properly grown and harvested, can yield over an extended period. Side heads develop after the central head is removed. Cauliflower is best transplanted as seedlings for both spring and fall crops. Do not transplant to soon before the final frost date in the spring. Transplant autumn cauliflower about the same time as fall cabbage. Cauliflower is more sensitive to the cold than its cabbage-family relatives and is generally more difficult to grow than other cabbage species.
