Bittersweet Plant Berries

Do I need a male and female plant to get the orange berries usually on bittersweet plants. I got a plant a few years ago and it is growing great but no berries yet.
Answer
Celastrus scandens or the American Bittersweet is in fact a dioecious plant which means each plant only posses male or female sex organs and both are needed to fruit. Plant with caution Bittersweet is known to be invasive in most ofthe US when it hybridizes with Oriental Bittersweet.
