Questions & Answers
Do I need to use a pesticide?
Question
Is there a cheap easy way to get rid of bugs/worms on my plants or do I need to spring for an expensive pesticide?
Answer
If you are referring to earth worms there is no reason to get rid of them, they add nutrients and air space to your soil. If by worms/bugs you are referring to an insect that is damaging your plant's foliage you may be able to treat the plants with BT or Bacillus thuringiensis which is a living microorganism that is used to kill unwanted insects in forests, agriculture, and urban areas. BT is effective on caterpillars, mosquito larvae, and beetle larvae and can be found at your local garden center. BT can be an alternative to expensive and toxic pesticides. Proper ID will help determine what is the best solution for you. E-mail a photo of the pest to contact@plantlifeonline.net.
