Questions & Answers
Embryonic leaves turning white and brittle
Kathy Jo Dykstra asks:
Question
The embryonic leaves have turned white and brittle on cucumbers and tomatoes.
Answer
Sounds like your tomatoes and cucumbers have sunburn. If your plants were started in doors or in a greenhouse then moved outdoors it's likely the plants were not used to the suns harsh UV rays. Your plants should survive but the harvest maybe delayed. Other options could be herbicide damage or possiblycold temperatures after being planted. The photo below is of a tomato with sun burn.
