Fungus in my Jasmine pot
natalie.obrien@ asks:
Question
I have a Jasmine potted in a plant that I must have over watered and now has huge mushrooms growing. What should I do to kill it? Thank you.
Answer
More often than not the fungus is feeding off the organic matter in the potting soil and is not hurting the plant. Fungi are not necessarily a bad thing there are many different beneficial fungus in all soil types, however it can be unsightly. I recommend just removing the mushrooms by hand. Make sure your pot has adequate drainage, a pot with poor or no drainage will harbor fungi and could lead to root rot.
