Green Mountain Boxwoods

Jim asks:

Question

Is a green mountain boxwood the best way to go for a 3'-6' hedge zone 6 full sun?

Answer

Boxwood make a great hedge however they are not very fast growers and in your zone 6 may like a bit of shade. The green mountain boxwood tends to have a pyramidal shape by nature I would recommend Buxus sepervirens 'Handsworthensis' which has a more up right growth habit. Other shrubs that make a good hedge would be some of the evergreen Euonymus (may require more training) or Pittosporum tenuifolium (not as dense but ha great leaves and stems).
