How to start peonies
Katrina asks:
Question
How do I start a peonie short of buying the plants. Can I get a cutting or a seed from the flower itself?
Answer
There are a couple of ways to start peonies 1. Sow from seed in the fall or early winter, this may take 2-3 seasons before they germinate. 2. Divide herbaceous peonies in fall and plant what is known as the eye 2" below the ground. 3. Take root cuttings in winter and propagate. Good luck!
