Lawn

JoAnn H asks:

Question

When is the best time of day to water a lawn when temps are in the 90s?

Answer

It is always best to water turf in the early morning when the temperatures are cool and there is less water wasted to evaporation. Also by watering in the early morning you reduce the chances of powdery mildew and other disease by limiting the amount of time water sits on the leaf surfaces (as apposed to over night). When watering the lawn always water longer, deeper and less often. By watering the lawn less often and deeper you will encourage deep health roots creating a more drought tolerant turf. Regardless of the daily temp a healthy lawn should only need water 2-3 times per week.
