Questions & Answers
lucky bamboo plants
Question
I just got a lucky bamboo plant. It came in a vase with water in it. I read that this plant grows well in soil. What kind of soil should be used?
Answer
The lucky bamboo you have will do great in just the water for a couple of years with regular mild fertilizing. Then it is recommended that the bamboo be planted in sand again with regular fertilizing. Other planting media will work as long as the planting pot has a drain. Check out our full care instructions in our "Articles" section under Lucky Bamboo Care Instructions. I have a large lucky bamboo plant with many stalks that I have kept in the glass vase with only water and large river rocks for almost 9 years now (I clean it out regularly).
