My Hydrangea does not bloom
Barbara Pierce asks:
Question
I have three htydrangea shrubs that don't bloom. Any suggestions?
Answer
Hydrangea bloom on the current seasons growth, if you pruned your bushes in the spring more than likely the wood that produces flowers was removed. If pruning is not the case its possible the shrubs need some fertilizer. Pruning hydrangea is best done in the winter before the new growth begins, prune down to around 18 inches above the ground removing any large wood stems. Heavy pruning like this should be done every few years to encourage healthy new growth.
