Shredded matter
eddiegallen@ asks:
Question
I am shredding hedge cuttings, briars, tree branches etc, etc and wonder if the mulched residue can be used as a cover to prevent weeds coming up?
Answer
Absolutely, the chipped cuttings will provide an excellent weed barrier, 2-4 inches deep is ideal. As well as deterring weeds from growing, as the mulch decomposes it will add nutrients and humus-rich material back to the garden.
