shrubs (How deep to plant)

Carolyn asks:

Question

How deep do you have to plant privacy shrubs?

Answer

I believe you are referring to the depth the rootball should be planted, as a general rule it is better to plant all plants higher than the grade of the soil. For example if you are planting a 5 gallon shrub the top 1-2 inches of the rootball should be above ground and soil mounded around to cover any exposed roots. High and dry will reduce the chance of root rot in soils with poor drainage.
