The dead foliage hangs down creating a shirt from top to bottom, in most landscape applications the dead fronds are removed for aesthetic reasons. Plant in full sun with room to grow, prefers well drained sandy soil. Once established very little water is need. Poor drainage and standing water can lead to disease.
