Pepper is a warm-season vegetable that grows best in hotter climates. There are a large variety of garden peppers to choose from, bells, sweet, hot and those used for spices (pimiento, tabasco, cayenne, chili and paprika). Peppers will not tolerate frost and grow poorly in cool temperatures. Start seeds in doors and move outdoors once there is no threat of frost. Plant in well-drained soil with moist conditions and regular fertilizer for best production.
