Light textured soil free of larger rocks and debris will produce the best looking carrot. Sow seeds after last frost in rows about 12 inches apart. Carrots can be harvested spring, summer, and fall. A spring harvest generally yields smaller carrots so try planting baby carrot varieties like 'Little Finger' and 'Short and Sweet'. Harvest carrots as soon as the roots are large enough to eat. Carrots are generally sweeter with cooler temperatures.
