Golden beets have a orange buttery flesh color and a mild-sweet flavor. Beets are fairly frost hardy and can be planted in the garden up to a month before the last frost. However beets grow better during warm weather. Establish the seedlings under cool, moist conditions. Plant beet seedlings in the garden at 20 day intervals until midsummer, this will allow you to harvest for several months during the season. Make sure the soil is moist throughout. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep and one inch apart. Allow 12 to 18 inches between rows. Golden beets can be harvested around 55 days after planting.
