The Chinese Wisteria vine is loved for its large bluish-purple or purple pendulous flower clusters that occur each spring. Putting on quite a show before the foliage has fully developed. This fast climbing vine needs space to flourish and to be kept in check by regular pruning. Older plants can reach heights of 25 feet or more and stems may become several inches in dimeter. The plant climbs by twining its self around objects and trees. For best results plant in moist well-drained moderately fertile soil, will adapt to most soil types but prefers neutral to slightly acidic soils. Plant in full-sun. The wisteria vine should be planted on a sturdy structure which can support the plants weight overtime. There is also a white flowering form of Chinese wisteria, W. sinensis 'Alba,' which is very fragrant and can be found in most garden centers
