A tall palm with feathered fronds, the fronds are held upright a top long slender trunk around 18 inch in diameter. The leaves may reach 10-20 feet in length with a grey-green color, leaf base scars form an interesting diamond pattern when leaves drop. The edible dates appear on female plants when pollinated, the fruit is cylindrical around 1-2 inches, the long yellow strands of is fruit held out amongst fronds in pendulous clusters. Best grown in full-sun in well-drained sandy soil, once established it is only necessary to water once a month in the landscape.
